Teachers and others involved in schools tennis are being invited to a special event to encourage the continued growth of the sport.
The AEGON Schools Tennis Roadshow visits Wrexham on Tuesday 26 February and Cardiff on Thursday 7 March.
The event, which is run by the Tennis Foundation and is free to attend, aims to provide an overview of all the resource and support available to schools, together with practical ideas for delivering tennis in an education environment.
“Schools provide a wonderful foundation for tennis in Wales,” said Tennis Wales chief executive Peter Drew. “Our primary and secondary competitions are among the biggest in Britain, with thousands of children taking part across North and South Wales.
“Over the past 12 months we have continued to increase our overall membership to over 14,000 players across Wales,” he added. “Very often the encouragement to try tennis at school can trigger a lifelong involvement in the sport.”
The roadshow is mainly aimed at the school sport infrastructure including PESS (P.E. and School Sport), Dragon Sport and 5 x 60 staff in local authorities, as well as teachers who deliver tennis or PE.
The roadshow includes information on the various ways for young players to enjoy the game, such as Cardio Tennis and Mini Tennis.
Attendees will also receive a package of resources, including a £50 Schools Tennis equipment voucher, a free top-up equipment pack and entry into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a British tennis major event in 2013.
