A memory of Gallows on fire at The 2007 Full Ponty Festival will be forever vivid. This set evolved and revolved in a sweaty, jam packed testosterone ridden tent that was several dozen over capacity. The crowd roared forward like a tidal wave before it then swayed and retreated losing some bodies while gaining others at the door before returning replenished! This was not a home for the weak and weary!
So what of 2017? Well, Gallows leader Frank Carter-the tattooed terror-has slightly taken his foot off the pedal that he had driven through the floor of a runway juggernaut. He is now in a more controlled vehicle that still remains in the fast lane. However, he is marginally less gung ho in his guise but do not fear there is plenty of power and passion left in this turbo charged terrier. A more accessible approach has been taken with his band The Rattlesnakes and the twelve tracks of Modern Ruin has already gained favour with the music buying public. Carter can still go for the jugular but his style is now more of a cross between a feral Arctic Monkeys duelling with a rabid Manic Street Preachers.
His ethos is still embedded in punk rock values with vehemence woven in to a fabric that is still awash with blood, sweat and tears. However, one can imagine a Monsters of Rock crowd salivating over this beast as well. Crossover charisma with tunes such as Acid Veins, Neon Rust, Wild Flowers and Snake Eyes leading the pack in a motor music mix. Therefore, the verdict on Our Frank is Get Carter a.s.a.p.!
