Rob Jones of World of Words (WOW) was bowled over by the warm and generous welcome afforded by the lovely folk of Tylorstown Welfare Hall. Rob was invited to speak about the work of WOW i.e. www.worldofwords.education and its impact as a kids literacy and well-being programme. The project has involved 19 RCT schools and over 2500 kids across 10 years and there are many takes to tell. It has been a battle to start and maintain the scheme and many hurdles have been cleared but numerous children and their nearest and dearest have benefited.
The audience were receptive and also altruistic with a kind donation. Rob did not know what to expect but the address went well and the responses from the throng indicated that it had been an entertaining and informative afternoon. It was many thanks to Ann Davies for organising the visit and everyone for being so friendly and supportive.
Rob enjoyed himself – although it was daunting talking to an adult audience as he is usually faced by the 6 to 11 year olds of WOW! it is a great deal of gratitude to the Welfare crew and if any other groups would wish for a talk about World of Words please get in touch or if your school wishes to get on board please email worldofwordswales@gmail.com
