Punk icons for Caerphilly Castle
First formed in 1974, The Stranglers’ no bullshit attitude was embraced by the punk movement of the time. They released three albums – Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black And White – within 13 months of each other, scoring a slew of hit singles such as Peaches, No More Heroes and Walk On By.
Over the years, The Stranglers have earned 24 Top 40 singles and 18 Top 40 albums. They are one of the most incredible, innovative and influential bands to have emerged from the 70’s.
The Stranglers live play new cuts, alongside classic favourites and lesser performed numbers drawn from their extensive catalogue spanning over 40 years.
2019 marks 40 years since The Ruts (now Ruts DC) released their classic album The Crack. Featuring hit singles Babylon’s Burning, Something That I Said and Jah War, the album is a pinnacle in the punk annuls. To celebrate, the band are taking a look back over their career with a brand new anniversary tour and a celebration of their yesteryear anthems and newer material.
The Stranglers and Ruts DC play at Caerphilly Castle on Friday, July 5 from 5pm. For ticket details head to https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/the-stranglers-caerphilly-05-07-2019/event/1F00553CABFC5683
