The Cockney Rejects are street survivors and despite the ups and downs of a cacophonous career the lads retain a stomping stage style that has to be witnessed.
The incendiary industry of the raucous Rejects remains in fine fettle and the reminder of my sole live experience of the band still exudes joy. That Butlins Minehead set at the 2014 Great British Alternative Music Festival simply blew all of the others acts away and there was plenty of strong competition over the four days of that event!
The power of the nascent Cockney Rejects albums gave the punk movement a new identity and the contents of these records can still instil a passion that has rarely been matched. The band arrived in 1978 and the boys came from the streets and represented the ultimate visceral vibe! There was no sugar coating the goods because this was the real deal!
In 2021 the energy afforded by the Cockney Rejects can power the national grid and the athletic antics of lead singer Jeff (‘Stinky’) Turner would undermine many men half of his age! Alongside him the guitar gusto of brother, Vince is also integral to the demonic drama -,and, the siblings remain the core original factors of a gung-ho crew! Long time associate Vince Riordan (bass) and Joe Sansome (drums) make up the furious four.
Therefore, a night with the Cockney Rejects at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff is an enticing prospect for rebel rockers! This gig is set for Friday, December 10, 7.30pm. Tickets are £22.00.
