Home-Start Cymru has launched a children’s Festive Gift Appeal, with a reminder to the public that every donation will make a difference to disadvantaged families in their community this Christmas.
The national Welsh charity, with grassroots hyper-local service delivery, has seen an increased demand for its services this year, and has provided life-changing support for around 800 families and 2,000 children; with many families asking for support with financial worries, job losses, or feeling overwhelmed
Bethan Webber, Home-Start Cymru CEO, said people could make a real difference in their local community by donating this festive season.
“Families are really struggling this year due to the impact of the pandemic, as well the end of the furlough scheme, the removal of the £20 Universal Credit uplift and soaring energy prices – we are sadly seeing an unprecedented increase in the demand for help.”
From now until 5 December, Home-Start Cymru is urging people to collect monetary donations or donate gifts to their Festive Gift Appeal to ensure that each supported family can have the joy of opening a present on Christmas Day.
She continued, “Christmas will be a struggle for thousands of families but we still want to make sure that every child who is supported by Home-Start Cymru wakes up on Christmas morning with presents waiting for them, and with your help we will do everything we can to make this happen.”
“We are asking you to buy just one extra gift to help us to give our supported families a brighter Christmas. We appreciate how difficult times are for many families at the moment and thank you all in advance for the wonderful way in which you respond to our Appeal.”
Gifts can be donated to the Appeal through our Amazon wish list or drop off points can be organised directly with a Home-Start Cymru representative in your area.
