It was an amazing afternoon for World of Words I.e. www.worldofwords.education at Cwmclydach Primary School with Tony Moon of the Rhondda Tunnel Society leading a talk. Tony kindly gave up his time to discuss the proposed tunnel linking Blaencwm and Blaengwynfi – following the old railway line that closed in 1968.
Chat, videos and a Q & A followed as the children learned about elements of the Rhondda past, present and future. There were a series of astute observations and erudite questions from the floor as a packed young audience became absorbed in a development that would result in an incredible cycling and walking facility in our locality.
The tunnel when open would be the biggest of its kind in Europe and for six months of the year the attraction will become the largest of its type in the world.
After this session World of Words led a class on words that promoted good values and positive behaviour. Red pebbles were then distributed for this week’s writing challenge and it was another Wednesday of wisdom. Well done all!
