Punk powerhouse Penetration sprung forth from the late 70’s rock rebellion. Band vocalist Pauline Murray was one of the most potent female forces of her generation and she can still cut the mustard. The creativity of Penetration got the County Durham act signed to Virgin Records-as label boss Richard Branson assembled a whole host of fresh and forceful UK talent e.g. Sex Pistols and then PIL, XTC, The Skids, Magazine and The Ruts amongst others. The Penetration albums Moving Targets and Coming up for Air were critical successes and singles such as Don’t Dictate, Life’s a Gamble and Danger Signs excel. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since that exciting era but the Penetration performance on their last visit to the Welsh capital in April 2014 was full of fiery fare. The review of that gig is available via the link:

Penetration delivered the new Resolution album last October; and the current band line-up consists of original members Pauline Murray and Robert Blamire plus John Maher (ex-Buzzcocks) as well as Paul Harvey and Steve Wallace.
