A South Wales law firm with a global reputation for its expertise in fighting copyright piracy has won further contracts from international software companies.
Cardiff-based CJCH Solicitors, which recently won Welsh Government backing to establish and run an anti-piracy hub creating more than 70 jobs, has added three more firms to its portfolio of intellectual property clients.
They are: Cheltenham-based Planit Software Limited; Vero Software Inc, of Alabama, USA; and SolidCAM Ltd, of Israel.
CJCH already handles anti-piracy work around the world for companies including French multinational Dassault Systèmes and Cambridge-based Aveva.
“Our international reputation for the excellence of our work in protecting clients’ intellectual property is now well-established and growing all the time,” said CJCH CEO, Stephen Clarke, who leads the team at the firm’s Cardiff office.
“We have helped recoup millions of euros for clients, and two separate raids in Spain alone last year generated over 500,000 euros in settlements for another client.”
Initially, the firm will be operating within Europe for the new companies, using its network of European legal partners to enforce the clients’ rights to their software intellectual property.
Recent Welsh Government support in the form of a grant approval will enable CJCH to recruit six new members of staff to work on the new accounts.
Research work on behalf of these new clients to identify infringing companies has already started and enforcement action against infringers will commence in May.
