The non-profit children’s literacy and well-being project World of Words (WOW) has had the approval of NACE for our work at Cwmclydach Primary School. NACE is the National Association for able children in Education and acceptance from this elite source is much sought after in the sphere of learning. The WOW sessions with the year 5 and 6 groups are concentrated on students who are developing their studies at an advanced rate and as a result NACE has assessed our input. A full voluntary report submitted by WOW was forwarded to the school who were delighted and the document along with the school recommendations was then passed on to NACE.
Rhiannon Jenkins of NACE visited school and WOW had the chance to speak with this respected education expert. In return the level of praise was extremely complimentary with suggestions that other schools would benefit from the sessions plus the diverse and diligent approach employed.
To get this approval from a recognised independent body such as NACE was a real tonic and spoke volumes that WOW is a worthy enterprise unlike any other supportive programme. WOW interacts with the youngsters via a range of innovative interventions which helps the students aim for the stars. The recent sessions studying ‘The Black Pit of Tonypandy’ novel for the Bookslam competition proves that the children are ready and willing to participate on the path to progress. NACE also stated that the array of WOW implementations offered a unique and positive approach to gauge the interest of their young audience – and, the many role models who had been introduced was also a real tonic to the experiences of the beneficiaries and their futures.
